June 2024

Updated: 1 day ago

The dog days of summer aren't quite here yet, but that's what it looks like.  Our two chocolate labs, Barley and Muesli, are regular tug-of-war contestants, and their history is evenly split between wins and losses.  When they're not tugging against each other, they're chasing, catching, and sometimes returning all manner of balls.

Our four Great Pyrenees dogs patrol the ranch's perimeter at night, keeping out everything that doesn't belong.  By day, they do a lot of sleeping, eating, and wrestling, and not much else.

If there's one reason that our desert tortoise Timothy likes June over all other months, it's because the cactus flowers are in bloom... and he LOVES cactus flowers.

As any horse lover knows, the beginning of summer also brings with it new crops of horse flies. We have our share, but we fight them with screens, traps, and powders. It's not perfect, but it helps.
