Our dog population is now up to eight, and they're all big. We go through an awful lot of dog food. Poet is our latest addition, an Armenian Gampr puppy that has been growing like a weed. He's nearly as big as our Great Pyrenees and still has a ways to go. Still, he's a complete sweetheart and loves to play with our younger dogs.

We have an old bee house at the ranch, built long ago and entirely of stone. Evidently there was an active beekeeping business here for a while, and there is still some old equipment strewn about. The building has now been completely renovated and is a popular stop on our tours.

Desert tortoises are a rare find here in the Coachella Valley, but we nearly ran over one recently on our way to the ranch. We have several others people have given us, and this new one has now joined the pack. He (or she) likes broccoli, cucumbers and lettuce and is doing well.

Notwithstanding a week of blistering weather recently, our spring has been enormously pleasant and we hope it continues that way. Nice weather always results in a burst of tour bookings, and these past weeks have been no exception. It's green and beautiful throughout the ranch.

Wildlife activity always increases with the advent of spring, and this year is no different. Black bears are regular visitors, as are bobcats, coyotes, deer, and a host of other animals. Pictures like this come from our trail cameras scattered throughout the ranch.
